So you are a guy and you are about to become a father.  Great.

If you are anything like most expectant fathers these days, then you are probably planning on taking a more active role in parenting and childcare than fathers of previous generations.  This means that you will likely be changing diapers in the middle of the night, bathing your baby and swaddling your newborn (don’t worry if none this lingo makes sense to you right now… it will soon).  The point is this:  If you are going to be doing a lot of the work, then why don’t you get to celebrate your impending fatherhood the way your wife or girlfriend does with a baby shower?

Does a Daddy Baby Shower sound too pansy-ish or unconventional to you?  Don’t worry, we aren’t suggesting that you sit around with your closest buddies, opening baby shower gifts and playing “pin the diaper on the baby” while oohing and aahing over the imminent birth of your child.

But at the same time, it doesn’t mean that expectant dads can’t have a baby shower-type celebration. Dads have the right to celebrate the birth of their kids, too… well, they should at least deserve to party with the guys

Of course, the term baby shower does invoke visions of baby themed parties. So perhaps “baby shower” is not an appropriate name for this get-together. Why limit yourself with a label, anyway? Call it a “celebrating-Jim’s-impending-fatherhood” party, if you want, instead of baby showers for dad.
